About The BORNN FIRM, P.L.L.C.

 

 

    The Bornn Firm, PLLC.  is an outgrowth of one of the oldest law firms in the U.S. Virgin Islands.   Its history is based in a law firm established in and continued through multiple variations culminating in The Bornn Firm.  Attorney Bornn is the senior Member of the Firm and is a native Virgin Islander. The Firm utilizes experienced legal assistants and secretarial staff to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. Offices are located in the heart of the commercial historic district of Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands at No. 8 Norre Gade and similarly in the heart of historic Christiansted, St. Croix.  The law firm also has an office in Cruz Bay, St. John. The Law Firm undertakes representation on St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas and Water Island.    The Law Firm has a continuing reputation for community involvement, contributing to the development of the law of the Territory and fastidious representation of its clients.

 

    The Bornn Firm is a business firm whose offerings are derived from the collective expertise and skills of its attorneys, consultants, and supporting staff.

Beyond its business focus, the Firm offers services in real estate transactions and general legal services. The Firm is involved in representation of clients who seek to utilize this unique jurisdiction for significant tax savings for business entities and captive insurers.

  All attorneys in the Firm are admitted to practice in all courts of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Administrative Agencies and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Member:

 

David A. Bornn: Is a native-born Virgin Islander with deep roots in the community.  He was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1952; attended All Saints Cathedral School; graduated from Trinity College, Hartford, CT. with a B.A. degree; and received his J.D.  from Villanova University School of Law in 1981.  He was admitted to the V.I. Bar and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1981.   He was subsequently admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1988.  Attorney Bornn has been a member of the V.I Bar Association and a co-chairman and member of its Ethics and Grievance Committee.  He has also been a member of the American Bar Association and its Real Property, Probate, and Trust section and Forum on Affordable Housing.  Attorney Bornn has been a board member or participated in multiple community organizations.  Attorney Bornn has over 20 years experience practicing in the fields of corporate/business matters, real estate transactions, employment relations, government relations, contract negotiation and dispute resolution.  He is the senior Member of The Bornn Firm.

 

 

 

Paralegal Assistants:

Ina Callwood: Ina Callwood has over 10 years experience as a corporate legal assistant and executive assistant to Attorney David A. Bornn of The BORNN FIRM, P.L.L.C. She has worked in the corporate management area with the Law Firm and its predecessors and prides herself in her working relationships with most governmental departments, agencies and the Legislature. She is currently the principal person responsible in the Law Firm for corporate management work. She is in the process of being certified as a legal assistant.

 

Christie Higginbotham:  was born in Ohio; raised in Kern, California; and graduated from Bakersfield High School District in California.  Ms. Higginbotham worked as a Title Examiner in the Bakersfield office of First American Title Insurance Company from July 1995 to September 2002.  In October 2002, Ms. Higginbotham moved to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands where she obtained employment with RE/MAX St. Croix.  Several months later, she began work for the law firm of Nichols Newman Logan & D’Eramo as a legal secretary specializing in real estate and mortgage closings.  In April 2004, Ms. Higginbotham joined the St. Croix office of the Bornn Firm and is employed as the legal assistant for Attorney Rhonda Hospedales.  Attorney Hospedales primarily specializes in the area of litigation as well as real estate/mortgage transactions and general corporate representation.

 

Anthia Benn-Buncome:  Ms. Buncome has received degrees from the University of the Virgin Islands in Business Administration, Business Management and a Legal Assistant Certificate.  She has worked with the Department of Human Services for a number of years from Clerk Typist to Executive Assistant. She then moved on to the Virgin Islands Housing Authority (VIHA) to the position of Legal Secretary. After multiple years at VIHA, she joined The BORNN FIRM, P.L.L.C. as a legal assistant where she is responsible for assistance in Litigation, Wills and Trusts, and Estates.
